Create a Realistic looking EGG or a Pastel Egg in Photoshop 6.01

For this technique you will need to have the KPT 3 filter

TIP: If you have KPT 5 you also have KPT 3 and can install it by doing a Custom install ~

Begin with opening a new image on a TRANSPARENT BACKGROUND and add a new layer

Next use your Elliptical Marquee tool (M) and draw an ellipse

Set your Default Colors (black and white) (D) and then choose your Paint Bucket Tool (G) to fill your ellipse with White

egg3.jpg (46788 bytes)

Now go to Filter / KPT 3 / KPT Glass Lens and apply the filter without making any changes in the settings

Next go to IMAGE / ADJUST / VARIATIONS

egg5.jpg (41663 bytes)

A new screen will pop up ~ choose DARKER and click OK

egg6.jpg (66009 bytes)

Now to give your egg that 'realistic' eggshell appearance we will apply the FILTER/ARTISTIC/ROUGH PASTELS

egg7.jpg (31304 bytes)

Use the following settings

Stroke Length 0  ~  Stroke Detail 1   ~  Texture SANDSTONE  ~  Scaling 64  ~  Relief 3  ~   Bottom

egg8.jpg (25971 bytes)

Your egg is now complete.  To make the eggs a Pastel color, merely choose different colors when you do the IMAGE / ADJUST / VARIATIONS step above.

You can now hide your background layer and MERGE VISIBLE and save your egg either as a PSD or Jpeg ~ or copy paste different colors of eggs on separate layers to make it easy to arrange them as in the image at the top of the page. Apply a drop shadow to give your egg some dimension and you're done !
