Applying Your Watermark To Your Image
Open up the image that you want to apply the watermark to

Now go to EDIT/Paste and Paste your watermark into your image as a NEW LAYER (if you are using a previously made watermark that you saved in PSP format with your selection already made, then you'll need to do an EDIT/COPY first before pasting it into your image)

Now your image looks like this. As you can see the watermark is larger than what you need it to be, but resizing 'only' the image on the new layer is very simple. This will not effect your main image size at all

Hers's how you resize the watermark image ~ Go to IMAGE / RESIZE

Resize it to the percentage you want. Here I've set my resize to 75%. Make SURE that Resize All Layers is NOT CHECKED Then click OK

Now the size is much better. You can also make your watermark very small if you are using it to add an indiscrete mark on the image that isnt all that noticable

Now go to IMAGE / OTHER / EMBOSS and apply

Now your watermark looks something like this. Here's where the 'Magic' starts though !

RIGHT Click on Layer 1 in your Layers Palette

Click on Properties

On BLEND MODE click on the dropdown list and either choose Soft Light Or Overlay. There isn't a whole lot of difference, in the two, but sometimes depending on the shades in your image, one will show up better than the other. You can check it both ways to choose which one you prefer. Most of the time I use Soft Light and get perfet results.

Voila !!! Like Magic, your watermark is transparent and will blend right in with your image. You can see this when you move your watermark image around on the layer. No matter where you place it, the image behind it shows through.

Now if you want to be a little 'fancy' you can use the Deformations Tool to change the way your Watermark looks. Go to IMAGE/DEFORMATIONS/SKEW

You can decide how you want your watermark skewed, but here is a good starting point. Set the Horizontal to 45 and your Vertical will be at 0 ~ Click OK

Click on your MOVER Tool from the toolbar and move your Watermark where you want it on your image

When you are happy with the placement of your Watermark, go to LAYERS / MERGE / MERGE ALL FLATTEN

Now you have a Watermark that blends right in with the image, but yet makes the image less desirable for someone to use.

Now save your Watermark Image, with the ellipse still selected, as a .psp file. Then when you need to use it, all you need to do is open the image, and copy/paste it into your image you are watermarking.
I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial ! Happy Creating !
